some of my pile of ILL is in.. but i cant get to the library to pick it up till thursday...

i guess that means i'll be less distracted from the egils sewing till then...
so, i sorted the kids sca clothes over the weekend, and the picture was not good.. what wasn't out grown was close, stuff was oddly missing and there was DRAMA about whose got done, and what color etc

i have random boy stuff in nikki's size which needs a home

i made four tunics so far, and i'm maybe half done if i count nikkis stuff as half due to size.. alex's stuff almost fits me but for length

still needed

wool for n, s
green for alex
unders for n
children are not allowed to grow so much

they all need new pants AGAIN

i just did this..

and, the older two seem intent on destroying them to avoid passing them down

nikki still thinks clothes in general are evil, apparently

her words of the week are penguin and cool
firefox is so much better...

why did we not do this before????

OMG like five TIMES better espec for corrugated rib
these are swiss, and a family thing.. we used to just make them at xmas, but that is silly

shankeli (makes lots)
6 eggs
1.5 cups sugar
1.5 sticks of butter (room temp)
5 cups flour
juice and zest of a small lemon
powdered sugar
small container of shortening

beat the eggs
separately add the sugar to the butter
combine eggs with butter mixture, add lemon, add flour one cup at a time
the dough will be stiff at the end
chill overnight

on floured surface, roll out dough to just under 1/8 in thick, cut into small narrow rectangles, cut small slit in middle, tuck one end thru to form a twist

fry at 400f till golden, dust w/powdered sugar while still warm
store in tins (i needed three biggish ones)

this works best with multiple people, assembly line style

d+d too

we can blame most of this on my dad's fondness for road trips. That, and the military sending me to the south
